Although you sometimes stay tuned in to what you’re doing, you often find yourself distracted by thinking about other things.
Improvement Tip:
- Learning to focus isn’t as hard as it seems. If you want to start increasing your mindfulness, it’s a good idea to start small. Next time you’re out and about, try to slow yourself down and notice any interesting/beautiful things around you – trees, flowers, the texture of a wall, the sky, another person…. Whatever catches your eye.
- You can learn to get more out of your day by practising our SNAP THAT and POWER UP activities. Only a few weeks of mindfulness practise is enough to make a difference.

Like many of us, you don’t have too much trouble focussing on what you’re doing if it’s interesting, but sometimes you find yourself tuning out.
Improvement Tip:
- The more you practise mindfulness, the more mindful you’ll be. Give POWER UP a try – it’ll help you hone your mindfulness skills.
- A really simple way to practise mindfulness is to take a few quiet minutes to focus on your breathing. If you get distracted or your mind wanders, that’s fine. Just bring your attention back to your breath. Doing this even for just a couple of minutes a day is a great way to start getting into mindfulness.

You’re really in the moment and in tune with what’s going on for you and around you. Sometimes your mind wanders but you tend to stay in the here and now.
Improvement Tip:
- Take mindfulness to new heights: try to savour food or music. Take time to really enjoy the experience of listening to sounds (pick a favourite song) or the taste and texture of a piece of fruit.
- You can also take your focus to another level by giving POWER UP a go. Or if photography is more your thing, try SNAP THAT.

You’re someone that’s really focussed on what you’re doing and what’s going on around you. When something has happened, it stays in the past and you’ll deal with whatever comes up when it arrives.
Improvement Tip:
- You’ve just about mastered mindfulness but remember, to stay mindful, you have to keep practising! Keep up the great work by using POWER UP or SNAP THAT regularly.
- Take it to the next level: instead of just focussing on what’s happening right now, try paying more attention to the good things in the past and future too. Think back to things in your past that you loved, or are proud of, or use songs, scents, photos and mementoes to jog a good memory and recreate the details of it in your mind.
